Wirral council have allocated funding to bring two educational establishments together under a new headteacher in Leasowe.

In the latest update from federation governors, Castleway Primary School and Leasowe Nursey School and Family Centre will co-locate as The Unity Federation whilst maintaining their individual school status.

On March 1, 2021, Wirral Council approved the application for £1.2 million in capital funding to bring the two schools together on the Leasowe site.

New headteacher of Castleway Primary School and the Unity Federation, Stuart Mycroft, said: “'I am incredibly proud to be the new headteacher of Castleway Primary School at this exciting time for our school and The Unity Federation.

“I've already been made to feel incredibly welcome by children, staff and families and can't wait to know everyone and ensure that our schools, Castleway Primary and Leasowe Nursery School, continue to grow, thrive and shine at the heart of the community to benefit of those who matter the most, the reason we're all here, our children and their families.”

Stuart started his career 21 years ago as a teaching assistant in a Kirkby primary school before going on to be a class teacher, assistant headteacher and most recently a vice principal since 2018.

Stuart said: “I feel that the route I have taken to headship, covering a wide range of roles across the primary school setting from TA to learning mentor, has given me a unique insight into the value that each and every member of the team has.”
