Officers have arrested two men following the pursuit of a suspected stolen vehicle in Wirral on Monday.

Patrols were sent to New Chester Road, near to the Queensway tunnel, at around 1.30pm on April 5, following a sighting of a suspected stolen Ford Fiesta.

Merseyside and Cheshire officers, supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter, pursued the car, which was subsequently stopped in Ellesmere Port.

Two men were detained at the scene.

A 27-year-old man from Litherland was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He was taken to a police station for questioning and has now been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A 29-year-old man from Netherton was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary; theft of a motor vehicle; drug driving. He remains under investigation for these matters but has been recalled to prison after his licence was revoked.
