A community group in Wallasey has created themed post box toppers to celebrate the Easter holiday.
Wallasey Village in Bloom is a community group of residents who work together to improve the look of Wallasey Village.
A team of six from the group call who call themselves, The Poppy Group, first started knitting together in 2013 creating knitted poppies for Remembrance Sunday.
Member of the group, Anne Williams, came up with the idea after seeking inspiration from Pinterest.
She said: “We started knitting as a group creating remembrance Sunday poppies and then it just took off from that.
“Every time we finish one project, we say what are we going to create next!”
Anne creates the green knitted bases and the other knitters in the group create the festive characters to go on top.
The chicks, easter eggs and bunny toppers can be spotted on Grove Road, Green Lane, and Wallasey Road by Parkside Veterinary Group.
Anne said: “We were eager to do something especially because we’re in lockdown and we’ve not been able to go anywhere.
“It’s kept our little group going during these strange times and it’s been exciting to see and hear everyone reactions to them.”
It’s not just post box toppers the group have been decorating the village with, residents can also spot knitted easter eggs hanging from branches displayed at Wallasey Village Cottage Garden and Wallasey Village Library.
Anne said: “People like walking or driving past them because it brings a little smile to see something nice.
“It’s also brought the group closer together because we’ve been able to help each other through the lockdown so nobody feels alone or like they haven’t got someone to turn to.”
The toppers will be around until the first May bank holiday until the group start working on a new design.
