An exciting new initiative has launched this month to offer competitive and fun opportunities for amateur women golfers.

Women On The Tee was created to complement existing club, county and national events.

Women can sign up individually, with friends or as a group to enjoy the challenge of different courses across the country and meet like-minded players. Membership is obtained through the website womenonthetee.com and for 2021 is at the discounted rate of £30.

The Women On The Tee members only competition schedule for 2021 includes five one-day stroke play events, one two-day event Four Ball Better Ball and one day stroke play.

The flagship event is the WPGA Ladies Pro Am at Bowood Golf Club in Wiltshire on August 19.

This is an all female Pro Am with up to 28 teams playing for team prizes, with Pros also competing in an individual WPGA Order of Merit competition with a pros prize fund of £2,000.

But a week earlier, the schedule lands in Wirral, when Bromoborough Golf Course hosts a stroke play tournament on August 11.

Each event offers prizes and Women on the Tee Order of Merit points for gross and net winners in two divisions – Mid Amateur (age 49 and under) and Senior (50 and over).

Organisers say they all events have been planned to make the tournaments as Covid safe as possible. All competitions will be adhering to the England Golf Play Safe guidelines, with all of the admin digital on players own phones, so there is no exchanging of cards.

The latest Golf Genius tournament software provides the players with a contactless experience. Digital scorecards, tee sheets, course information and integration to the World Handicap System will be readily available by a new Women on the Tee Golf Genius mobile app providing a smooth pre and post round experience.

On the day players can expect a welcome desk, starters on the first tee to explain local rules, ball spotters if required, a roaming referee and a live leader board in the clubhouse, on the website and mobile app.

Founder of Women On The Tee Julie Walker said: “Our goal is to create professional and well organised events where players feel they are getting an elite golfing experience."

Women on the Tee, launched this month and was created following a survey of 530 amateur women golfers in November 2020.
