A visually impaired Wirral student is doing a sponsored walk to raise funds to buy a film projector and screen to entertain isolated students during lockdown.

Nicole Corley, 23, an A-level student at the Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) is organising the event as part of her extended project qualification.

On Saturday, from 10am to 6pm, Nicole and a team of students and staff from RNC are going to complete an accumulated 500 miles around the college campus.

Nicole, from Birkenhead, said: "I chose to do a sponsored walk as I wanted to do something that would encourage people to get outside in the fresh air.

"Being outdoors really helps with mental and physical wellbeing, particularly at a time when we’ve been so restricted through lockdown."

Members of the public are also invited to join in virtually from wherever they are in the world by downloading the free Strava App and searching for ‘EPQ Sponsored Walk’.

Once walkers have joined the event the miles you make will be added to the accumulated target automatically.

Nicole hopes to raise funds for a projector and screen so that students can most the most of their social time on campus while restrictions are still in place.
