IT began as a way to support a charity close to his heart.

Now Chris Forster is quickly gaining a reputation as a bingo host thanks to his online events that raise funds for St Rocco’s.

The former Woolston High School student’s next bingo session is on Friday, February 12, after the success of a series of games since the first lockdown.

Chris said: “What started out as an idea from a family member to run a game of bingo online has led to a massive response.

“St Rocco’s is close to me and my family as they cared for my auntie Allison Lyons and granddad Ken Forster in the final days of their lives.

“After seeing the unbelievable work that all the staff do, I have supported the hospice for eight years now and I organize at least one big event each year. Due to the pandemic and the fact the hospice was set to lose more than £1million just in the first lockdown I thought I would try and help out.

“Our first game raised £3,000 which I thought was unbelievable but the demand to play and the word spreading all over social media has seen my phone blow up with messages.”

The next game is on Friday, February 12, with all the details on the Facebook page, Chris Forster Online Bingo.

With all proceeds going to St Rocco’s, it is £5 per ticket and that includes two games of bingo, plus entry to the raffle with some big prizes and a cash prize every time.

Chris, whose dad Mark Forster played for Warrington Wolves for 20 years, added: “The response has been incredible.

“Even when I am walking down the street or shopping, people stop me to say how much they enjoyed it and it gave them something to look forward to on a weekend.

“It is really nice to hear in these tough times that it brought everybody together and also raised some much-needed funds for St Rocco’s Hospice.”

The response has even inspired Chris to look into further opportunities as an events organiser when restrictions ease.

He said: “I have just started my own events company where I am looking to bring a full range of events to Warrington from singers, comedians and tribute acts to X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent stars.”
