A FIRE which broke out at a barn which contained around 20 vehicles is being treated as an arson.
Police say investigation is underway following the suspected arson which destroyed a barn at Bushells Farm.
Firefighters were called to the site on Joy Lane, near Clock Face Road, to a report the rear barn which contained vehicles had been on fire from around 10pm on Monday, January 11.
Eights crews attended the incident, and were on scene by 10.45pm to discover the fire, which was around 20ft by 30ft in size.
Nearby residents were evacuated from their homes while firefighters tackled the blaze.
The barn was unoccupied at the time of the incident and there are no reports of anyone being harmed.
Crews tackled the flames throughout the night into Tuesday morning.
A joint police and fire service investigation is ongoing.
Detective Constable Anthony Hatton said: “Thankfully no-one was injured during this incident, but the consequences could have been far worse for the neighbours if the fire had spread.
“If you witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, please let us know. Likewise, if you have any CCTV or dash cam footage that could assist with the investigation, please let us know so we can take action and find those responsible.”
