CHILDREN from Christ Church CE Primary School Moreton have shown their appreciation to nurses and care team at Claire House by sending them written letters, designed Christmas cards and a festive sweet treat.

The 90 members of staff at Claire House have received cards and letters from 46 children who have been learning all about the nurses and their roles.

Claire Cooper, Year 6 teacher at Christ Church CE Primary School said: "Our Year 6 cohort wanted to show their appreciation to all the hard working staff at Claire House.

"It has been a difficult year for all of us and our children wanted to demonstrate a kind and compassionate act in their local community."

They also took part in a Zoom call with members of staff at Claire House who answered lots of the questions from students.

One which was most memorable was from student Maisie who asked, “What is the best smile you have ever seen from one of your children?"

Claire said: "The children have found this thoroughly rewarding and learnt lots about the work of the team at Claire House. We watched a number of videos highlighting the help that the hospice provides for seriously and terminally ill and their families.”

Claire House also paid the Year 6 students a visit where each child was presented with a candy cane and a card.

The cohort has also complied a video thanking the team at Claire House for their amazing work this year and wishing them a Merry Christmas.

Across the school, pupils at Christ Church have also shown support to Harvest Court Residential home with a window visit, cards and gifts, recorded and written messages for people in the Wirral community, made decorations to be delivered with Family Pack parcels and made cards for our NHS workers.
