THERE will be some changes to grey and green bin collection days over the festive period.

This year only residents who have their bin collected on a Friday are affected.

Bins scheduled for collection on Friday (Christmas Day) will now be collected on Sunday 27 December.

Bins scheduled for collection on Friday January 1 (New Year's Day) will be collected on Saturday, January 2.

Bins should be put out for collection by 7am on the new collection day, as usual.

All other collections (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) will be collected as normal and there is no need for residents to do anything differently.

Wirral's garden waste collection service are reminded that the service shut down on December 14 for its annual break over Christmas and New Year until January 11.

For those with a real Christmas tree, once taken down and decorations stored safely for next year, the tree can be chopped up and put in the brown bin ready for the first collection of 2021.

Bin collection days can be checked online on the council’s website.

All recycling centres/tips in Wirral will be open as normal every day over the festive period excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. For more information, visit the Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority website.
