A farm in Bidston has been selected to receive funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund.

Tam O’Shanter Urban Farm on Bidston Hill have been chosen as an option for Co-op members to donate to.

“We are very fortunate that we have been selected for the fund and we’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in Bidston.”

The farm hopes to raise funds to support their volunteers with gloves, PPE, waterproof items and refreshments.

During the first Covid-19 lockdown, Tam O’Shanter managed to raise £8,000 through GoFundMe which they say has helped them survive so far.

Jo said: “There is no other way for us to raise money so it’s been really challenging. Without the help from the local community we wouldn’t have been able to do it, it just shows how important it is to the people across the Wirral.”

Tam O’Shanter are hoping to encourage supporters of the farm to become Co-op members and select them as their charitable cause.

Jo added: “We know how important the farm is to the people of Wirral. We are constantly inundated with people asking us when we are going to be able to reopen.

"It’s such a feature of Wirral and everybody you speak to has been here and brought their children. We want to make sure that it’s still here for those children to hopefully bring their own children one day!”
