CHESTER has been named the best place to live in the UK for access to green space.

The city was also ranked 10th for community spirit on Zoopla's list of UK cities.

Although London ranks first for having the most amount of green spaces with 243 to choose from, Chester has the best access with the highest number of green spaces per household.

Here are the key findings for Chester:

• Chester ranks as the 10th best UK location for community spirit, with an overall score of 49.99/100

• Chester has the best access with the highest number of green spaces per household

• Chester community spirit ranking is based on its:

o 27 nurseries

o 107 events

o 20 volunteering opportunities

o 16 green spaces

Stockport was crowned the top UK location for great community spirit with a score of 61.7/100,

Cheltenham came in second with a score of 59.1/100, and Lincoln in third with 57.1/100

A spokesman for Zoopla said: "A strong community spirit should accommodate those of all ages, and nurseries can sit at the very heart of a community. Not only are they a great starting point for children to develop their social skills, but they provide a perfect opportunity for parents to socialise with one another too.

"Having regular access to green spaces and the outdoors is proven to improve both mental and physical wellbeing, with 91% of people saying it improves their overall quality of life.

"As well as bringing local communities together, local green spaces have given many individuals the opportunity to exercise during local lockdowns this year."
