TWO further coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded by the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

NHS England data released this afternoon (December 3) showed that the deaths sadly occurred on November 29 and December 1.

The trust, which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites, has registered a total of 285 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Elsewhere in the county, Mid Cheshire (one) and Warrington & Halton (one) hospital trusts also recorded additional deaths in the latest one-day reporting period.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 984.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 268, East Cheshire NHS Trust 174, and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 257.

The daily NHS England data provides information on deaths of patients who have died in hospitals in England and had either tested positive for Covid-19 or where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across England, a further 295 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 41,605.

Patients were aged between 39 and 99 years-old. All except 11 (aged 53 to 91 years-old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from 24 October to 2 December, with the majority being on or after 30 November.

Their families have been informed.
