A PHOTOGRAPHER from Wirral, who didn’t start capturing images until he was in his 40s, is celebrating after winning a regional award for his talents.

Ken Lewis, from Prenton, has been named Nature Photographer of the Year (North West England) at the 2020 North West Enterprise Awards.

Ken was given the award in recognition of his Nature Images collection on his own website, a collection that has taken him almost 40 years to accumulate.

He told the Globe: “My journey started when my wife bought me a decent camera for my 40th birthday. And what an amazing journey it’s been. I’m now in my seventies.

“I run my own business called kelimages.com. I’ve been all over the UK and further afield.

"As well as nature pictures, I have an extensive portfolio of Liverpool and the Wirral.

“I turn the images into products which I sell in my many outlets on Merseyside.”

The Northwest Enterprise Awards said: “This prestigious award marks the hard work and stellar efforts of those who have helped shape this demanding and dynamic region, and our comprehensive selection and judging process singles out the true market leaders over the past year.”

Ken, who was also born in Wirral, offered some advice to anyone who is thinking about getting into photography.
