PENSBY Children’s Centre is to close for good as part of an ongoing council review and management of its portfolio of buildings.

Services provided for parents and children at the centre, which has been closed since the start of the pandemic, will continue to be delivered at other sites in the area.

Staff have been relocated to Bromborough Children's Centre, which will be the main hub for South and West Wirral and will deliver services across the whole area.

Some activity had been moved to Pensby Primary School earlier this year, while other outreach services remain available in Black Horse Hill Infant School, Hoylake Community Centre and Ganney’s Meadow.

Chair of Wirral Council's children, young people and education committee, Conservative councillor Cllr Wendy Clements, said: "At all times, our commitment is to offer quality services to the families, children and young people in our borough, in the most efficient way we can.

"I regret the loss of this wonderful facility but I have been assured that these services will continue to be provided in an accessible way for all service users."

The chair of Wirral's economy, regeneration and development committee, Labour Cllr Anita Leech said: "As a responsible authority, one of our key priorities is to regularly review the use of all buildings within our portfolio.

"In this way, we can understand the status of the individual premises in terms of how they are being used and can give proper consideration to their carbon footprint, environmental impact and age."
