DRAMA student Jill Breckon proved age is no barrier to success after passing three major acting exams at the age of 83 - making her the oldest person to do so.

A member of Phoenix Dance and Drama, Jill from Bebington was encouraged to sit the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art's Bronze, Silver and Gold (Grade 6, 7 and 8) exams by her colleagues - passing all three with the highest mark of distinction.

Jill has been a member of numerous theatrical groups, including Wirral Hospital Players and the Birkenhead-based Carlton Players.

Alyssa Mackenzie, head of drama at Phoenix Dance and Drama, told the Globe today: "Jill is a massive inspiration to the dance school and shows what can be done at any age and especially this year.

"Grade eight was made even more special in the fact that she had to do all the work during lockdown and took her exam under very strict conditions in July.

"At first, she didn't think she would be any good, so was very relieved to get the distinctions."
