A Wallasey-based radio station is set to hit the airwaves tomorrow morning with a big local name hosting the flagship breakfast show.

The team behind Reminisce Festival are launching In Demand Radio, a brand new DAB radio station for Liverpool and the North West.

Former Radio City DJ and co-founder of Reminisce, Lee Butler, will be taking prime position, hosting the ‘Brekky Butler’ weekday breakfast show, as well as a weekend dance show and his legendary Sunday afternoon show.

He will also be collaborating on the station’s programming policy.

Admitting it felt like a big risk to leave one of the biggest commercial radio stations in the UK, Lee explained why he made the decision.

He said: “When you tune into your local radio station you want to hear a local voice or those big anthems that connect with the people of Liverpool and the North West.

"At In Demand, I will have the total creative freedom to do that. I feel the time is right for me to throw my heart and soul into building a radio station from the ground up that will feel like radio is coming home to Liverpool.”

The rest of the line up includes a mix of local names the North West knows and loves like Baz Todd and The Guide Liverpool’s Jay Hynd alongside big names from the club scene such as Tiesto, Dave Pearce, Judge Jules and Roger Sanchez. Bongo’s Bingo hosts Jonny Bongo and Rich Furness also take on a weekly show.

On the station launching right at the beginning of the new COVID restrictions, Lee added: “We’re gonna dance our way through lockdown. Swap the safe boring songs on repeat for super shiny anthems.

"From the most amazing old skool memories to the funkiest and hottest new releases. It’s time to re tune your radio and turn it up!”

In Demand Radio launches in Monday November 9 on DAB and is also available to listen now online at www.indemandradio.com and via the app.
