A YOUTH who was spotted on CCTV throwing eggs at a Birkenhead supermarket has had his bicycle seized by police on ‘mischief night’.

Merseyside Police had put in a 48-hour dispersal zone across Birkenhead from 5pm on Thursday until 5pm today, October 31.

It was designed to tackle anti-social behaviour across the town on Friday, October 30, the date commonly known as 'mischief night', which has seen Merseyside hit with incidents over the years.

Police received reports of youths throwing eggs at Asda, in Grange Road, on Friday evening – and one boy who was spotted on CCTV was later seen by officers in the dispersal zone.

Officers seized the boy’s bike, ordered him to leave and not to return for 48 hours.

Police were also out and about elsewhere across the Wirral to check for anti-social behaviour on ‘mischief night’.

Officers patrolled Mersey Park, in Tranmere, after 7pm and the south Wirral area after 9.30pm following reports of anti-social behaviour in those locations.

Meanwhile, a number of Arriva bus services diverted to avoid some parts of the Wirral, following incidents of anti-social behaviour.

In a post on Facebook, an Arriva North West spokesman said: "Routes will not be serving around Birkenhead Park for the rest of the night.

"This is due to anti-social behaviour and buses being damaged."
