A SIX-year-old girl from Pensby has been making homemade Remembrance Day cards to help raise money for The Royal British Legion.

Honora Banks with the help from her mum, Gemma Joyce, have been making and selling plantable poppy seed cards to raise money for Remembrance Day.

The pair have been posting and delivering the 12 home made cards around Wirral to those who have been donating to their Just Giving page which is directly connected to the British Legion.

So far, they have managed to raise £270 out of their £100 target.

Gemma said: "Remembrance Day is quite special to us because Honora's dad is a recently retired submariner.

"He is thrilled and so proud of what she has achieved."

Honora has been busy making her own paper mixed with poppy seeds which means the cards can be planted straight into the ground.

Gemma said: "She chose to paint a submarine and poppy design to acknowledge the fact her dad served 27 years as a Submariner for the Royal Navy. She's very crafty so she's really enjoyed it!"

She added: "We are absolutely over the moon!

"We set a target on the just giving page of £100 thinking she would probably get to around £50 if that because there were only 12 cards but we are so happy that we’ve managed to raise so much more.”

When asked if she's proud of herself, Honora told the Globe: "Yes I am!"
