Leah Noone's journey from lockdown boredom to pageant queen

Leah Noone, 18, from Eastham, won the title of UK National Teen Liverpool this month after entering the pageant during lock down.

Having no experience with pageants and never entering one before, she decided to enter herself as a way of keeping entertained over the lock down period.

Leah (pictured, below) said: "This was the first time I've ever done anything like this. I was doing nothing during lock down and I decided I wanted to do something that I thought was really cool and I could look back one day and think I did that."

After her initial application and interview the judges awarded her the title at the beginning of October."

She said: "I didn't expect anything at all I had just put the application in on a whim.

"It's mad how far it has come along.

"I was in such a shock but I'm so happy about it!"

Leah, as well as girls from all over the UK, will now compete for the title of UK National Teen which will take place in March.

She is currently studying Art Foundation at Birkenhead Sixth Form but hopes to continue with pageants in the future.

She said: "I can't see why I wouldn’t want to carry on doing it. This is only my first one but I’ve loved it so far.

"I've met so many amazing people."

The contestants are also taking part in the UK's National Miss Finalists fundraising for The Christie Cancer Charity.

It is a charity close to Leah's heart, she said: "It's a really important charity to me because they have supported my family before so I have a really personal connection."

All the girls who are competing are collectively trying to reach their group target of £2000 and so far, have raised just over £500.

She hopes to reach a personal target of £300 by setting up a raffle and is looking to local businesses to sponsorship.
