FIVE fire crews are currently tackling a large house fire in Frodsham which has spread to a neighbouring property.

Shortly before 3pm today (Saturday, October 24) firefighters were called to reports of the blaze on Wayford Close.

Firefighters from Widnes, Runcorn and Lymm were initially dispatched to the scene and on arrival the crews were greeted with a large fire in a semi-detached house which was quickly spreading to a neighbouring property.

Additional crews from Chester and Penketh were dispatched to the scene, along with an aerial appliance from Chester.

Four firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, have entered the property and are currently using two hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

A number of vehicles parked outside the property have also been damaged as a result of the fire.

Initial indications suggest the fire stared in a vehicle parked in a garage attached to the property.

All of the occupants of the two properties are believed to be accounted for and two people have been treated for smoke inhalation.

Police are also in attendance at the scene and a small cordon is in place as precautionary measure.

Firefighters have now brought the fire under control, the crews have stopped using breathing apparatus and the appliances from Lymm and Chester have been released from the incident.

Crews have isolated the gas and electricity and are continuing to use hose reel jets to fight the fire.
