THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has registered a further two deaths of patients who had coronavirus.

The latest NHS England data, released this afternoon, shows that the deaths sadly occurred on October 17 and 18.

The trust, which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites, has now registered seven deaths so far this month, having not previously recorded one since July.

Mid Cheshire and Warrington and Halton hospital trusts also recorded additional deaths of patients who tested positive for the virus in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The total number of patients with coronavirus who have died in Cheshire hospitals now stands at 763.

The Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded 234 deaths (the last on October 18), Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 219 deaths (the last on October 18); East Cheshire NHS Trust 150 (the last on October 13), and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 160 (the last on October 19).

Across England, a further 134 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 31,181.

Patients were aged between 36 and 100 years-old. All except six (aged 68-91) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from October 13 to 19.

Their families have been informed.
