ONE of Halton’s most recognisable landmarks has been lit up green in celebration of the borough’s green spaces and parks.
Halton Borough Council is supporting the #GoGreenForParks campaign, which is being run by the Green Flag Award.
It is encouraging those responsible for landmarks across the country to light them up green to celebrate this year’s award-winning parks and green spaces.
The green monuments also aim to say a massive thank you to the thousands of people who work tirelessly to maintain them.
Support for the #GoGreenForParks campaign comes off the back of Halton Borough Council’s own summer initiative to celebrate its parks, with people sending their love by using the hashtag #LoveHaltonsParks.
The aim was to encourage pride in the parks so people would be less likely to drop litter and increase respect for park workers in Halton.
Various projects have been announced to improve the parks, including a 'green corridor' for Victoria Park and a range of projects for Runcorn Town Park.
