Another coronavirus death has been recorded in Wirral NHS hospitals, as the borough prepares to head into a 'tier 3' lockdown.

The fatality, which occurred on October 8, takes the total number of patients who have died with Covid-19 at Wirral University Teaching Hospital to 249.

A further 87 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 30,594.

Patients were aged between 30 and 96 years old. All but six patients (aged between 72 and 86) had known underlying health conditions.

41 of the fatalities recorded today were in the North West.

Date of death ranges from October 6 to October 12, 2020 with the majority being on or after 10 October. Their families have been informed.
