ARTISTS could be showcasing their work next spring in a Knutsford art trail.
The town council’s events officer and town centre and marketing officer have been looking at small events which could increase footfall in the town centre to support local businesses.
The plan is for an art trail where local artists would be invited to exhibit in participating businesses.
A report to the council’s events committee, which supported the art trail proposal, said: “The aim is that a range of artists, including those producing wall art, interior designs and ceramics would create a variety of art as part of the trail.
“A flyer map would be produced to guide visitors around the town centre to participating businesses.
“The event would also offer a promotional boost to local artists who may not have a permanent base for their businesses.”
Participating artists and businesses would be required to ensure the exhibits were equipped with coronavirus preventative measures, including contactless payments, display-only items where possible and hand sanitiser available for customers and staff.
A coronavirus risk assessment would be undertaken for the trail and each individual display within shops.
The report added: “This initiative is a way of promoting footfall without creating large crowds.”
It is proposed that the trail runs in spring 2021, as a single day event or over a number of days, with new artists exhibiting throughout the event.
The trail would cost £320 for marketing and publicity and £180 for events costs.
