Two more coronavirus deaths have been recorded at Wirral hospitals, NHS England has confirmed.
The fatalities occurred on September 26 & 27, taking the total number of patients at Wirral University Teaching Hospital who have died with Covid-19 to 245.
The news comes after 227 people tested positive for Coronavirus in Wirral over the weekend.
The cumulative rate of infection in Wirral now stands at 1,136 cases per 100,000 people, far higher than the England average of 670. Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
Wirral's cases were among the 80,555 recorded across the North West, a figure which rose by 4,352 over the weekend period.
Across England, a further 44 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,962.
Patients were aged between 47 and 99 years old. All had known underlying health conditions.
Date of death ranges from 23 to 28 September 2020.
