A new coronavirus death has been recorded today at Wirral University Teaching Hospital.
NHS England has confirmed that the fatality occurred on Tuesday, September 22, taking the total number of patients who have died with Covid-19 at the trust to 242.
The news comes after 44 people tested positive for the virus in Wirral in the 24 hours leading up to 9am on Wednesday morning (September 23). A further 67 had also returned positive results in the previous 24 hour period.
A further 30 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,838.
Patients were aged between 18 and 101 years old. All except two (aged between 53 and 82) had known underlying health conditions.
Date of death ranges from 17 September to 23 September 2020.
