A RHYL pub has confirmed that it was in fact one of its members of staff who tested positive for Coronavirus - and not a customer as first suspected.

The Blue Moon pub, situated on Vale Road, announced earlier this week that it would be 'closed until further notice' after a positive test was made on site.

A spokesperson for the pub told the Rhyl Journal that the person in question had been working as manager before lockdown but was now 'sometimes helping out'.

He added: "People have been asking us whether or not this person had been working on Saturday just been - he hadn't. He helped us out the Sunday before (September 13) for one hour.

"We haven't been forced to close the pub, we've simply closed it in order to keep people safe."

The statement put on Facebook by the pub added that staff would be contacting anyone who has visited the pub 'shortly' by using the track and trace process.

The spokesperson for Blue Moon added: "Once we have been contacted by the track and trace team, we will pass on all the relevant details needed for our customers and staff."
