THE main entrance to Birkenhead Park was cordoned off by police as part of an investigation into an alleged handbag theft earlier today.
At 5.45am, it was reported that a woman in her 20s had entered the park after a man who had allegedly stolen her handbag from a club earlier in the evening and had taken it into the park.
The entrance to Birkenhead Park was cordoned off for much of today.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the Globe: "Enquires are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances.
"Anyone with information can contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting ref. 20000569772 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111."
