Emergency services have been rushed to a Wirral footbridge this morning after a 12-year-old boy was found injured at the bottom of it.
Eye witnesses reported a corden in place on the footpath that leads to Noctorum Avenue, with police and several ambulances in attendence.
It is believed that he may have fallen from the bridge.
A statement from Merseyside Police confirmed the incident.
It said: "We can confirm that emergency services are in Prenton following an incident this morning, Thursday 17 September.
"At around 8.25am, officers and the ambulance service were called to Noctorum Avenue to a report of a boy being found injured near to a footbridge.
"The boy was taken to hospital for assessment of a leg injury, which is not initially believed to be life-threatening.
"Officers remain at the scene carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances."
