A NEW local testing site for coronavirus will open in Liscard this afternoon. 

Set-up in the car park of the Liscard Community Facility Complex, Egerton Grove, Liscard, the appointment-only site will be open from 2-5pm today, 10am-5pm on Thursday and 8am-8pm from Friday, then seven days per week.

Users will be asked to self-swab when attending. 

News of the Liscard centre's opening was announced by the council this morning.

This is in addition to the new LTS sites in Birkenhead and Bebington which have opened this month and are available to carry out tests seven days per week from 8am to 8pm.

A council spokesperson said: "LTS are self-testing centres staffed by private contractors and are a walk-through facility. People will need to walk or cycle to the testing site. They should not use public transport and should wear a face covering while travelling.

"All sites are appointment only.

"Arrangements have been put in place to manage visitors to the site, ensuring full social distancing and safety measures.

"If local businesses or residents have any questions or concerns they can email: covid19testing@wirral.gov.uk"

Mobile coronavirus testing units are also walk through and available by appointment only at Tranmere Rovers Football Ground car park today from 10am-3.30pm and Europa Leisure Centre in Birkenhead tomorrow from 10am to 3.30pm. 

The Wirral Satellite Testing Centre based at Bidston station park and ride is also available to book with priority testing given to symptomatic Key Workers and symptomatic individuals followed by asymptomatic Health and Social Care workers.
