Yet another Wirral pub has been forced to close its doors temporarily after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

The latest drinking establishment to fall foul is the Hooton Arms in Eastham Village.

A message on the pub's Facebook page on Tuesday said: "It is with deepest regrets that we are having to close the pub until further notice. This is due to a staff member testing positive for Coronavirus.

"It is worth mentioning that the staff member has been isolating for the past ten days and has not attended work.

"We will be making the decision to open back up once all test results have come back negative and the pub has received a deep clean.

"If you believe you have any symptoms, please get yourself a test.

"We have not taken this decision lightly. We just want to make sure everyone is safe during these unprecedented times.

"Thank you, from all the team at The Hoot and we hope to see you all soon."

The Eastham pub is one of several hospitality venues that have been forced into temporary closure following a positive covid test.

Last week, Sue's bar in Birkenhead, the Refreshment Rooms in Rock Ferry, Sheridans in Wallasey village and Fraiche restaurant in Oxton were all left with little option but to close their doors after positive tests were returned from either members of staff or customers.
