A WALKER has sadly died after falling on Snowdon, a mountain rescue team confirms.

On Wednesday afternoon, September 9, the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team received a call from North Wales Police that there had been several reports of the sighting of a walker who had fallen a significant distance on the PYG track.

A spokesman said: "With assistance from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Helicopter Rescue 936 and their crew, a hill party were lifted and delivered to Pant y Lluwchfa.

"On arrival at the scene, it was found that the walker had not survived their injuries and the Team carried out the task of gathering evidence and retrieval on the steep ground under the Trinity Face.

"All the Team would like to pass on their sincere condolences to the family of our fellow hill walker.

"We'd also like to thank Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team as always for their support with this incident too."
