Tranmere will start life back in League Two with a trip to Mansfield, the English Football League has confirmed.

The EFL's Championship, League One and League Two seasons will all begin on the weekend of Saturday September 12, with Mike Jackson's new-look Rovers making the trip to Nottinghamshire to kick off their promotion assault.

A week later, new gaffer Jackson will get to lead his team out in a league match at Prenton Park for the first time when the Whites host Cheltenham Town on September 19.

Captial club Leyton Orient will be the first to visit Birkenhead under the floodlights, when Rovers host them on Tuesday, October 20.

The Whites will host Bradford City on Boxing Day before travelling north to newly-promoted Barrow three days later.

The first league match of 2021 will be a long trip to Colchester United on January 2.

Rovers will be away to Cheltenham on Good Friday before hosting Cambridge United on Easter Monday.

The season finisher is at Preton Park on Saturday May 8, against Essex club Colchester.

Jackson has made numerous solid signings in the past fortnight and has also retained the services of some key players, including Ollie Banks and Mark Ellis.

It is not yet know when supporters will be allowed back in stadiums as a result of the Covid-19 health crisis.
