A unique school which claims to combine academic excellence with the pursuit of world class sporting achievement has opened its doors in the borough.

Based in New Brighton, LIFE Wirral (Learning Individualised For Everyone) is a small, independent day school where children between the ages of seven and eighteen years with sporting talent will be offered high quality education running parallel with Olympic-class sports coaching.

The private school, which hopes to enrol as many as a dozen students by January of next year, will be exclusively for those children who have the genuine potential to represent England and Great Britain across any sport in which they excel.

Wirral Globe:

“Unique is, perhaps, an overused word in today’s society but we know from our extensive and exhaustive research that there really is no comparable institution in the region, “ said LIFE’s CEO, Alastair Saverimutto.

“Fulfilling our students’ potential in both sports and education is our sole objective. Both our teaching and our coaching will be personalised on a one-to-one basis. All our staff possess the very highest level of qualifications – they have been hand picked as we believe that they are the very best at what it is they do,” he added.

Saverimutto is the man behind WESPA, The Wirral Elite Sports Performance Academy, which was launched in 2015 and boasts a remarkable record in transforming emerging North West sporting talent into international stars.

Although LIFE Wirral is a new venture for the former International rugby player and Everton Football Club executive, the school dovetails his two overriding passions of achievement both on and off the sports field.

Wirral Globe:

He added: “My dream has always been to create a unique, bespoke and premier education business on the Wirral.

“LIFE Wirral provides sports-talented young people with the opportunity to be trained and mentored by elite coaches whilst receiving a full-time education package all rolled into one.

“What we will do is provide a first-class education on a par with any other private school in the country whilst nurturing and shaping the sporting dreams of our students. LIFE Wirral is a not-for-profit, no shareholder, organisation.

“Whilst one of our primary objectives is to produce international athletes of the highest order we also want to prepare our students for possible careers within the sports industry – that could be in coaching, management or administration.”

The recently-renovated centre in Victoria Road features school classrooms, conference rooms, designated Prep school classrooms, optimal health student kitchen (new unique lesson in the LIFE curriculum) and an indoor & outdoor sports training zone.

These facilities provide an environment for students to academically flourish and to optimise human performance and sporting skillsets.

In response to what Saverimutto calls a 'growing demand', LIFE Wirral has recently added a full-time Preparatory Specialist Dyslexia section to be offered to the region’s children.

He said: "Wirral and its state-funded schools is suffering from economic shortfalls and budgetary cuts and much-needed specialist provision has been hard hit. We intend to provide it."
