INVIGOR8 gym members can now request to have their memberships reinstated to take advantage of council-run outdoor fitness classes.

The full timetable can be found on the Wirral Leisure website and includes activities such as Pilates, HIIT, Run in Wirral, Zumba and Revs Cycle.

Classes are held across Wirral at venues including Birkenhead Park, Leasowe Leisure Centre, outside the Floral Pavilion and the Oval Leisure Centre.

Memberships will only be reinstated on the understanding users will not be able access other Invigor8 facilities other than outdoor exercise classes and golf courses until further notice.

Those who wish to reinstate their membership should email Wirral Leisure at bookingsandinformation@wirral.gov.uk.

The council's leisure service has also increased class sizes to give more people the chance to exercise again.

Council leisure teams are working hard behind the scenes to prepare indoor leisure centres for reopening – with significant alterations to the buildings needed to comply with the latest government guidance.

Some council leisure sites are also still being used as COVID-19 support centres by the Ministry of Defence and the NHS meaning they cannot currently reopen to the public.

Cllr Julie McManus, Wirral's cabinet member for community services, said: "Our customers told us they wanted to see some outdoor classes during this period and we listened.

"Our outdoor and online fitness classes have been a lifeline to many who rely on regular exercise.

"Not just for their physical health, but their mental health too."

To see the full timetable of outdoor fitness classes or to book a class, visit the Wirral Leisure website. Online fitness classes will also continue to take place for free on the Invigor8 Facebook page.
