THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded two additional deaths of patients testing positive for coronavirus in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
NHS England data released this afternoon (July 7) shows that, as of 5pm yesterday, the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – has now registered a total of 217 deaths.
The figures also show that both deaths sadly occurred yesterday.
It comes after the trust had not reported a death for three days.
The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 706 with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recording 212, East Cheshire NHS Trust 143, and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 134.
As of 3.55pm yesterday, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Cheshire West and Chester stood at 1,948 – a rise of seven in 24 hours.
Across England, a further 36 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 28,940.
Patients were aged between 53 and 98 years-old. Two patients, aged 83 and 85, had no known underlying health conditions.
The North West region recorded the most deaths with a total of 14, followed by London (6), Midlands (5) and North East and Yorkshire (5).
Today, six deaths are reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
