CONGRATULATIONS to Dorothy and Eddie Mealor, who celebrated 70 years of marriage this week.
Dorothy, 90, and Eddie, 93, reached the milestone on Wednesday.
After serving in the Merchant Navy from 1944 to 1947 the then 20 year old Eddie returned to Wirral to take employment in Bromborough where he met the 17-year-old lab technician Dorothy.
They married in St Barnabas church Bromborough on June 24 1950.
They have two children, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A spokesperson for the family told the Globe: "During their lives they were great ballroom dancers - our very own Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and attended many dances at the local dance halls in the area.
"They both have a special affection for Malta as when peace was declared in 1945 Eddie was on Malta.
"They have visited many times as Eddie later became president of the George Cross Island Association."
