The ban on motor caravans staying overnight in two areas of New Brighton has been made permanent, following cabinet member approval.

Motor caravans (motor homes) have been banned from staying overnight on the cul-de-sacs of Kings Parade and Coastal Drive since 2018. At this time a temporary experimental traffic order was put in place after concerns were raised by residents.

The now permanent traffic order prohibits motor caravans from parking at these locations between the hours of 8pm and 8am.

Wirral’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, Cllr Julie McManus, who approved the decision said: “Our stunning countryside, parks and coastal areas understandably attract visitors from across the country and abroad.

“The long term aim is to find better, allocated space for motor caravan owners to park up and enjoy our borough – a space which works well for both visitors and our local communities.”

The decision to prohibit motor caravans staying overnight is not a total ban on the entire length of the New Brighton coastline.

The full traffic order can be found on the Wirral Council website.
