A WIRRAL mum has praised an e-learning company for going "above and beyond" in their commitment to teaching schoolchildren online during the coronavirus pandemic.

Among the children taught by 'Every Lesson Counts tutoring' is Sharne Williams' daughter.

Sharne said: "They deserve recognition for their selfless and consistent contribution towards supporting families on Merseyside, with the daunting task of home schooling.

"As we're all aware, COVID-19 has enforced home-schooling.

"This, on top of many parents having to work from home, has caused stress and anxiety within the family environment.

"Teachers take years to qualify and for parents and children to suddenly have this strewed upon them as a result of these unprecedented times, is very daunting indeed."

The Wirral-based 11+ tutoring business, run by qualified teachers, is headed by Roger Boulton.

Sharne Williams continued: "Pre-COVID-19 my daughter was accessing their 11+ classroom based lessons at their Bebington branch. Roger and his dedicated team have adapted amazingly to the COVID-19 crisis and the closure of the schools.

"They not only continue to provide their 11+ tutoring online through Zoom, but have managed to create a fantastic home learning, virtual school for any family to access.

"They have selflessly given up their evenings and weekends to not only continue to provide the education material, but to organise free live weekend Zoom activities, Quizzes etc for online family interaction and well-being."

A spokesperson for the company said: "The main aim is to support families through these confusing times, giving them some structure and back up with the task of home schooling as well as social interaction for mental health and well-being.

"ELC works on a weekly subscription basis for those who are still receiving an income, however ELC are generously offering it as a free service to all NHS staff and those experiencing financial hardship due to the current COVID-19 crisis."

Sharne Williams continued: "Roger and his team are working tirelessly behind the scenes to provide the learning material, activities and tutor support.

"I know I speak for the many parents involved, when I say that I am very grateful that my daughter's education, especially her 11+ tutoring, has been able to continue with the support of ELC, during the COVID-19 crisis period.

"The re-assurance that her future is not compromised is invaluable and that is why I believe, like I'm sure all of the other parents do, the ECL team, Roger, Craig, Nicky, Tanya, Phil and Alex deserve recognition for all their efforts".
