THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded three new coronavirus deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (June 4) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the number of deaths of patients testing positive for the virus was 179.

The trust covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 606 – a daily increase of five.

In the East Cheshire NHS Trust, one more coronavirus death was reported, while the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Trust also recorded one coronavirus death.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust did not record any deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded the most deaths with 186, followed by the Countess (179), Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (124) and East Cheshire NHS Trust (117).

Across England, a further 115 people – down from 179 yesterday – who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 27,159.

Patients were aged between 26 and 100 years old. A total of five of the 179 patients were aged between 53 and 97, and had no known underlying health condition.

Today, 19 deaths are reported with no positive COVID-19 test result.
