THESE spectacular aerial photos show the lengths people in Ellesmere Port went to to get a McDonald's meal after the Cheshire Oaks restaurant reopened its drive-thru on Wednesday, June 3.

Queues can be seen stretching out in several directions in the photos, taken by Harry Corfield (Instagram @FocusingToInfinity), as people aimed to get their first taste of a Big Mac or Happy Meal in months.

McDonald's said yesterday it had reopened the fast food outlets in Chester's Greyhound Retail Park and at Cheshire Oaks, for drive-thrus and deliveries.

A number of social distancing and hygiene measures have been implemented for the safety of both staff and customers.

McDonald's added its franchisees were working closely with local authorities and the police, and may determine that it is necessary to close drive thru lanes if queues cause disruption at busier sites or put employees or customers at risk.

Ellesmere Port police monitored the situation and, on Wednesday night, Grange police tweeted: "The queues experienced at McDonald's earlier today serve as a reminder that as local shops and businesses begin the process of reopening after lockdown, please respect their efforts with social distancing plans and allow more time for your shopping."
