A TRANMERE fan has completed a virtual marathon challenge on a specially-adapted exercise machine for the club's community foodbank appeal.

All players, parents, coaches from New Ferry Rangers FC had been asked to help raise funds for the appeal and agreed to cover 3,300 miles to raise £3,300.

They decided to do this by running walking or riding 3,300 miles, this was because the amount tasked to us to try and raise was £3,300.

Anthony Davies, 38, who is severely disabled and has been in a wheelchair since he was 11 years old, wanted to do what he could to help in the fundraising effort.

So he decided to embark on a marathon challenge

The group hit the initial target of £3,300 in just five days and has now raised the target to £5,000.

Anthony will keep going after he hits his marathon target until he reaches the 3,300 miles.

His father Tony who is New Ferry Rangers FC under 11 manager told the Globe: "He wanted to get involved so he has embarked on a marathon with his arms.

"This was done on a special exercise machine. Before this he'd never done more than 20 mins on it with his arms.

"He started on Saturday May 23 when he did 60 mins and covered 7.1 kilometres.on Sunday and Monday he did 9.6 and 9.3 kilometres in 90 minute stints.today he will do another 60 mins.

"He completed the challenge on Thursday which coincides with him moving away from home 10 years ago.

"Along with efforts young players and families have been working hard to reach our target."
