STUDENTS from Wirral & Chester Taekwondo academy helped raise £800 for the NHS by competing head-to-head in a martial art competition using zoom, where they performed moves in a Knock out stage format.

More than 95 took part and the tournament, which was held in a good friendly spirit with students being allowed to wear fancy dress to compete.

The academy's coach Richard Saunders, seventh dan, told the Globe: "The students were amazing and we had young kids from the age of five to adults all having a go in our very first ever online competition.

"Since the lock down, the schools have moved all the programmes to online running classes seven days a week and the success and support has been amazing."

The competition was brought together by Richard’s wife Jane who organised all the divisions and sent out digital certificates to all the winners.
