SUPPORTERS of a charity for children with cerebral palsy have organised an online quiz to boost funds.

Taking place in aid of Stick'n'Step this Friday on Facebook, it will be hosted by one of the charity's ambassadors, Sky sports commentator Rob Palmer and son Ellis.

Now a BBC journalist and producer, Ellis was one of the first children to attend conductive education sessions run by Stick 'n' Step to help young people become more confident, mobile and able to reach their personal potential.

To take part in Friday's quiz, which starts at 7.45pm, go to Stick 'n' Step's Facebook page. The quiz is open to all and free to take part in but donations can be made by going to https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/StickNStepQuizNight or texting STICK followed by the amount you wish to donate to 70085 e.g. STICK10. To give a different amount, simply replace “10” with any whole number up to £20. Texts cost one standard rate message.

Friday was supposed to have been the charity's annual fundraising golf day, which has been delayed until October because of social distancing measures.

Rob Ellis said: "The May Bank Holiday traditionally means the sell-out golf day.

"It's a real shame we’ve had to delay it until October but it’s great that we can still do something for Stick 'n' Step.

"So many will have ring-fenced the date and now we can still have a virtual get-together. It will be fun, it will be a topical quiz and hopefully there’ll be questions for everyone".

Ellis, now a journalist at BBC World Service, added: "I'm now benefitting from all of the skills I learned at Stick'n'Step to allow me to be as independent as I can be.

"The charity did a phenomenal job in helping me as a child which is why we’re so passionate about supporting Stick 'n' Step at this difficult time".

Head of fundraising at Stick 'n' Step Jenny Snell, said: "We are so grateful to the Palmer team for stepping in to help on what should have been our annual golf day, which has been postponed until October.

"Rob has always been involved in our annual golf day and we are really delighted that he will be hosting this event for us.

"We want as many people as possible to take part in the quiz so that we can raise awareness of our work, recruit new supporters and generate donations.”
