Two men have been arrested after shots were fired in Prenton on Friday evening.

Merseyside Police have confirmed that at around 11.10pm last night, a report was received that gun shots had been heard in the Beechwood Drive area. Officers attended and found damage consistent with a firearms discharge to two houses on the street.

They also found gunfire damage to a car in Crutchley Avenue, Birkenhead.

There has been no reports of any injuries.

Following enquiries, officers arrested two men, aged 32 and 34, both from the Birkenhead area on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

They were taken into custody where they remain for questioning.

Community Policing Chief Inspector Paul Holden said: “An investigation is ongoing after shots were fired in Prenton last night last night and officers remain in the area today to carry out enquiries and speak to witnesses.

“We will not tolerate the use of guns on our streets and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, has any information, CCTV or dashcam footage, to please get in touch so we can act upon it.”
