Five more people who tested positive for coronavirus in Wirral hospitals have died, NHS England has confirmed.

Today's increase takes the overall number of deaths in the borough to 52.

The Wirral deaths recorded today occured on April 3, 5 and 7 with two on April 4. As of yet, there have been no recorded deaths that have occurred in the past two days.

866 deaths were reported across England, taking the overall total for the country to 8,114.

Patients recorded today were aged between 27 and 100 years old.  56 of the 866 patients (aged between 40 and 93 years old) had no known underlying health condition.

London and Midlands continue to be the worst affected regions in the country, today recording 249 and 229 deaths respectively, against the North West figure of 67.

Their families have been informed.
