WIRRAL University Teaching Hospital has stopped all visiting amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

A spokesperson said this evening: "Following the announcement by the Prime Minister yesterday, the Trust has taken the decision to stop all visiting across both Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals, except for those with exceptional circumstances such as family of patients who are receiving end of life care."

The following exceptions also apply:

Maternity ward and delivery suite visiting is restricted to one visitor only, who must be the birth partner.

In children's ward and the neonatal unit, visiting is restricted to one parent or carer.

Hazel Richards, Chief Nurse at Wirral University Teaching Hospital, said: "This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we understand the stress this may cause families at this time.

"However, our priority is the safety of our patients.

"We ask people not to visit our hospitals at all, unless it is an exceptional circumstance and has been agreed by a Ward Manager.

"These restrictions will be reviewed regularly and we will announce through our website and social media if there are any changes.”
