Merseyrail will operate a revised timetable on the Wirral line this Sunday, in anticpation of the arrival of Storm Ciara.

The expected adverse weather conditions mean network rail are likely to put speed restrictions into place across the local network.

Passengers are advised to check the Merseyrail website or Twitter account @merseyrail to check for updates before they travel.

Merseyrail is also offering some guidance for people to follow during the stormy weather.

Those who live near railways lines should ensure trampolines, gazebos or similar items are fixed in place, as they become airborne very easily in strong winds and can end up on the railway resulting in disruption.

If you, or anyone you know, has precarious trees, trampolines or similar items on their property that could fall or be blown onto the railway, please report it to Network Rail’s customer helpline on 0345 711 4141.
