ANOTHER 11 coronavirus evacuees from the Chinese city of Wuhan are due to arrive at Arrowe Park Hospital for quarantine today.

The news was confirmed by Wirral University Teaching Hospital's chief executive Janelle Holmes in an email to staff.

A convoy of six coaches brought 83 Britons evacuated from Wuhan to the hospital on Friday night where they will spend the next 14 days in quarantine at a hospital accommodation block as a precaution.

The passengers’ arrival comes as health officials are urgently trying to chase those who came into contact with two people diagnosed with coronavirus in the UK.

In an email confirming that the second wave of evacuees will arrive at Arrowe Park this morning, Janelle Holmes wrote: "We will be receiving an additional group of citizens from Wuhan.

"We were asked to accommodate a small number of UK citizens who did not make the flight on Thursday from China with the last group.

"The same safe-guarding arrangements and support are being put in place to get them here that were used for the first group of guests.

"None of this group has any symptoms. There will be further screening by Public Health England (PHE) when they land in the UK.

"We will continue to work with national partners to ensure that there is no disruption to the day-to-day working of the organisation.

"All services within our hospital will continue to run as usual.

"Staff working in the hospital will not be in contact with the people in isolation.

"Finally I would like to thank all my colleague for the tremendous amount of hard work over the past couple of days and for the compassion and concern you have continue to show towards our guests."

In an interview on Sky's Sophy Ridge On Sunday this morning Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said: "It's correct that there is a further French flight that is expected back in Europe today and that will carry some UK nationals."

"They will go to the Arrowe Park facility and all of the protections, the support during the 14-day period will be put in place.

"So they will be treated very well, and of course the reason we need to do that is on the one hand we want to get the UK nationals that want to leave China out, on the other hand we need to make sure we control and prevent the spread of the coronavirus because of the implications that that would have."

The death toll in China has risen above 300 and the number of confirmed cases of infection increased to 14,380.

A University of York student and their relative remain the only two confirmed cases in the UK.

A man in the Philippines has become the first person to die from the virus outside China.

From today, advertisements advising people to use tissues when sneezing or coughing and wash their hands regularly will appear in newspapers, on the radio and on social media.

The ads will also target publications and forums in the UK known to be read by Chinese nationals here, the Department of Health said.
