Time to nominate your 'angels' for Wirral Community NHS People's Heart Awards

Most of our readers have likely received NHS health and care services in their community or own home at some time.

Whether that’s a visit from a community nurse or health visitor or going to a clinic for treatment; community health and care is far-reaching and a vital part of the NHS in Wirral.

The Trust’s 1,700 staff provide services 24 hours a day, seven days a week in community locations and people’s own homes, helping them to stay well, independent and out of hospital.

We all know that the care, compassion and commitment of NHS staff has an enormous impact when we are ill or need support.

Those who dedicate their lives to public service often go above and beyond, making a huge difference to society.

Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust provides nearly 60 services in community locations, including adult social care, community cardiology, community nursing, end of life care, GP out of hours and walk-in centres, health visitors and school nurses, physiotherapy and podiatry, specialised dental service, speech and language therapy, wheelchair service Last year’s winners were the West Kirby community nursing team.

Ann, who nominated them, described them as “true angels, always showing tremendous skill, a positive attitude to work and respect to patients.”

After six weeks of care, Ann was sorry to say goodbye when it was time to be discharged.

The team said it meant so much to be recognised for the outstanding care they provide.
